The students in the Netherlands started the project. They wanted to present a local alternative to the Euro. A group of volunteers set up the foundation. The use of an "oeruschield" extension was used to address the 51% attack vulnerability in PoW coins. The shield is related to identified mining. A certified mining pool can be operated by Dutch companies that are registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce.
